Blueprint for Ireland

We are facing global environmental, social and economic problems that can only be addressed by action at all levels of government. For various reasons, governments worldwide are failing to act appropriately. Scientists cannot standby and wait for others to act at this critical dangerous time. Blueprint for Ireland considers the position of the Ireland, a medium-sized island with a small but divided population, where politics is rooted in the past and the energy of politicians is exhausted by a backward perspective, and historical party divisions and animosities. BFI is an analysis and a series of reflections which address the needs and aspirations of the increasingly diverse, secular people of Ireland through a new constitutional arrangement providing for sound governance and political structures at all levels. The basis of BFI is consensus and mutual respect for the rights of all identities and people living in Ireland, and the more mature approach to economic, social and environmental problems that we must face together, established by the Good Friday Agreement. BFI was written between 2015 and the end of 2018, changing in response to successive elections, critical referendums and contentious anniversaries. BFI is based largely on personal observations, reflections and discussions from the 1960 s to the present.
